Making of Shelby Cobra, the All American Car

Shelbys are some of America’s most powerful, with some boasting more than 1,000 horsepower, and top speeds well higher than most.

This year marks 50 years since Carroll Shelby produced the first Cobra. According to the Shelby museum, located at its headquarters in Las Vegas, Shelby “took the antiquated AC ‘Ace’ chassis, inserted a new small block Ford engine, and re-engineered the car to handle all the additional power. Weighing only 2,020 pounds, the Cobra easily vanquished sports cars from Jaguar, Chevrolet, Porsche, Aston Martin, and others. And in 1965, Shelby’s Cobra team wrested the sports car racing world championship from Ferrari.”

The 2014 Jaguar XKR-S GT is Unveiled During the New York International Auto Show

Besides sports sedan XJR, Jaguar has prepared another premiere for this year’s Motor Show. It’s XKR GT-S, which will be produced in an exclusive run of only 30 pieces, and all of 30 pieces are intended for the North American market.

It is used as the XKR-S, which means that the facility cares 5.0 liter V8 engine with a compressor that has 550KS and 680 Nm, in combination with the six-speed automatic transmission.

Top speed is limited to 170mph, while its acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is 3.9 seconds. Definitely another positive surprise from the Jaguar, but customers in Europe will be certainly disappointed.

Although Jaguar officially launched the car at the New York Auto Show, it is not scheduled to go on sale until the summer, when it is expected to cost $174,895.
