98th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade Balloon Inflation Event-2024

Giant balloons, fabulous floats, exciting entertainers and more are joining our all-star celebration. A massive line of people snaked around Columbus Avenue from 72nd to 78th streets near the American Museum of Natural History to watch the traditional Macy’s Balloon Inflation Celebration.
This 98th edition of the world’s largest parade, which typically draws some 3.5 million spectators to Manhattan, will feature 7 Balloonicles, 22 Balloons, 34 floats, 11 marching bands, 28 Clown Crews and Twenty-eight performers Macy’s announced.
Everyone’s favorite parade balloons are getting inflated Wednesday afternoon on the Upper West Side.
Macy’s Balloon Inflation Celebration is taking place 12 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Sixteen featured helium balloons and 32 novelty and heritage balloons will be prepped for their big flight on Thanksgiving Day.
The parade kicks off at 8:30 a.m. beginning from 77th Street and Central Park West and proceeding two and a half miles south to finish in front of Macy’s at 34th Street-Herald Square.
Inside the float inflation area Wednesday, trucks of compressed helium were seen near partially inflated balloons, including Smokey Bear and Snoopy, which were under weighted-down nets.
98th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade broadcast live on NBC and Peacock. Hosted by Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker.
Performers include Jennifer Hudson, Kylie Minogue, Billy Porter, Dan + Shay, Dasha, Jimmy Fallon & The Roots, Ariana Madix, Idina Menzel, T-Pain, Lea Salonga, The Temptations and Charli D’Amelio. Special appearances by Cynthia Erivo and Cole Escola.
This year’s parade features 5,000 volunteers, 17 character balloons, 22 floats, 15 heritage and novelty balloons, over 700 clowns, 11 marching bands, and 10 performance groups
The 98th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade marched through New York City, filling the streets, skies and many television screens with colorful, festive floats, balloons and performers on Thursday.
“For nearly 100 years, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been synonymous with the beginning of the holiday season, celebration and togetherness,” said Will Coss, Executive Producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
“Our talented team of Macy’s Studios artisans and production specialists work year-round to deliver the nation’s most beloved holiday event, live on Thanksgiving morning.
We are proud to hold this responsibility and look forward to sharing our unbelievable designs, larger-than-life character balloons and first-class entertainment, all sure to create lifelong memories for Parade fans nationwide.”
The 98th Macy’s Parade lineup up included 5,000 volunteers, 7 Balloonicles, 22 Balloons, 34 floats, 11 marching bands, 28 Clown Crews and Twenty-eight Performers Joining these Macy’s Parade fixtures are some of the biggest stars in music, all welcoming in Santa Claus and the holidays.
Mayor Eric Adams and Newly Appointed NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch quelled fears about any additional threats.
“The NYPD and our team have been closely monitoring the situation. Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner [Rebecca] Weiner has been communicating with our partners across all of the agencies involved in the NYPD and partners have already enhanced security,” Adams said.
“We’ve already had enhanced security because of the holiday. And we don’t see any nexus between the incidents there. “. He said attendees can expect to see uniformed officers throughout the parade route.
“We can tell you there are no credible or specific threats to New York City, or to tomorrow’s parade at this time. Our intelligence analysts and our counterterrorism offices have been preparing for this event,” he said.
Other New York City officials included at the Press conference included: Newly Appointed NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, First Deputy Mayor ; Anne Williams-Isom, Zachary Iscol, New York City ,Commissioner New York City Emergency Management Department, New York City Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Rohit Aggarwala, Ydanis Rodriguez, Commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT), Jeffrey Maddrey , Chief of Department for the New York City Police Department , Daniel Garodnick, Chair of the New York City Planning Commission and many more in attendance.

The Event started at Kings Theatre Brooklyn New York, the program started with The moderator introducing Detective Makia Brown, who performed the National Anthem, Firefighter Regina Wilson, Fire Department performed the Lift Every Voice and Sing.
After that the Religious leaders were introduced and bestowed a blessing and bought greetings for the Mayor. Imam Hassan Akbar, Bishop Victor Brown, Rabbi Moishe Indig, Venerable Youwang Shih, and Rabbi Rachel Timoner.
Mayor Adams, was introduced by the Moderator, he came out to Frank Sinatra’s Classic Song New York, New York. He had two pictures clutched in his hands one of his mother and another one of the First Black Mayor of New York City, Mayor David Dinkins. He placed his mother’s picture on the right side of the podium, and mayors Dinkins on the left side, as he was on the podium in the center.
The Mayor started off ,with I feel sorry for people that live in a small town and don’t live in New York. Just a good feeling, where we are, my fellow New Yorkers. We are here together at last. For two years, we have lived in an alternate version of our city, separated from friends, families, and colleagues, worried about going to school, to work, about staying healthy and our fear was justified.

The fundraiser will support initiatives in Jamaica and will include dinner and a silent auction, with an after party featuring live entertainment by Grammy Award winning artists Steel Pulse and music by Max Glazer with a special performance by Skip Marley, Cedella’s son.
