Charlie Kirk Sculpture Unveiled In Times Square On Anniversary Of Kirk’s Assassination In NYC

Clashes broke out in New York City’s Times Square on Thursday following the unveiling of a temporary statue commemorating conservative activist Charlie Kirk on the first anniversary of his assassination.
Showed supporters and protesters confronting each other near the statue, with several people pushing and shoving, some falling to the ground and objects being thrown as police officers stood nearby.

Tensions escalated as a march led by Jake Lang moved through Times Square, drawing both supporters and protesters to the area.
The 6-foot-5 statue was created by sculptor Sergio Furnari at a reported cost of $100,000. Furnari said he hoped the installation would encourage debate in memory of Kirk.
Sculptor Sergio Furnari unveiled the cast-metal figure, depicting Kirk holding a microphone and wearing clothing marked ‘FREEDOM’. Furnari described the work as a statement about free speech.
Hundreds in attendance
Kirk, 31, the founder of Turning Point USA and an ally of US President Donald Trump, was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Sept. 10, 2025.
Tyler Robinson, 23, is accused of shooting Kirk from a rooftop overlooking the event. He faces an aggravated murder charge and additional charges and has not entered a plea.

The statue of Kirk was unveiled in New York City’s Times Square on Sept. 10 at 2:33 p.m. to mark the one-year anniversary — down to the minute — of the conservative activist’s assassination.

Hundreds of people were in attendance at Times Square, shouting and protesting about Charlie Kirk, and there were also some supporters of Charlie kirk.
About Charlie Kirk: Charles James Kirk was an American right-wing political activist, entrepreneur, and media personality. He co‑founded the conservative student organization Turning Point USA in 2012 and served as its executive director until his assassination in 2025.
