It didn’t take Ennis long to impose his will, stepping to Zayas and dropping him to the canvas with a strong left hand late in the first round.
From there, Zayas would gain some brief momentum in the third and fourth rounds, but in the fifth he’d be dropped once again with as Ennis landed a thundering uppercut.
Zayas again beat the count, making it into the seventh round where Ennis would close the show.

Boots Stops Champion Zayas in 7th Round
Firing combinations with Zayas backed against the ropes, Ennis sent him to the canvas for the final time with a pair of hooks, prompting Zayas’s corner to throw in the towel.
“Sometimes you have to stay composed and stay relentless and not rush it,” Ennis said. “I didn’t want to rush it and not get a knockout, so I just took my time, stayed patient, listened to my corner.”

The undefeated knockout monster and current WBC Interim Super Welterweight World Champion, Vergil Ortiz Jr. is one of the most dangerous fighters of this generation.
Vergil Ortiz Jr.@VergilOrtiz Xander you looked straight to your corner after you got dropped that last time you’re a pussy you did better than I thought you were gonna do but you’re a quitter I can’t believe I just saw you do that.
When one of the reporters asked Ennis about Vergil Ortiz’s Tweet, he went on to say, I will fight Ortiz, Jr in the next fight.

Ben Whittaker his his promoter Eddie Hearns during press conf
Then his promoter, jumped and said, Ennis VS Ortiz will be a huge fight. If Ortiz is ready to jump in after almost one year layoff, we will be happy to make the fight.
Then Mr Hearns went on to say, I would think that, Ortiz, will probably take on another fight, before he jumps in with Ennis for a mega fight.
Hearns, went on say, there were already strong possibilities, for Ennis to fight fundora, or even Josh Kelley other champions in the 154 IB, for a unification and to become an undisputed champion in this weight class.

In my opinion, Jaron Boots Ennis, is a great talent, master boxer, puncher and a great technician and take you out with one blow.

Thousands in attendance at Barclay Center Brooklyn NY
He will be hard to beat at this time, as long as he stays disciplined, trains hard. He can move up 2-3 more weights and win championships. As his father/Trainer Derrick “Bozy” Ennis went on to say, Philadelphia is the Mecca of Boxing.
I was also impressed with Benjamin G. Whittaker, a British professional boxer who has held the IBF International light-heavyweight title since June 2024.
