43rd Dominican Day Parade, Inc New York City -2025

The 2025 National Dominican Day Parade brought a festive air to Midtown Manhattan Sunday for the 43rd anniversary celebration of culture, pride, and community. The celebration traveled along Sixth Avenue between West 37th and West 55th streets in Midtown.

The event celebrated honorees and highlighted the significance of the parade to the Dominican community. The Kid Mero served as the ambassador of arts and culture for the parade.

The theme of this year’s parade was :Quisqueya & USA: United in Culture and Tradition.” The annual event celebrates Dominican culture, folklore and traditions with parade floats, musical guests and dignitaries.

With the New York City mayoral election looming, the parade doubled as a stage for candidates like Mayor Eric Adams, Zohran Mamdani, and Andrew Cuomo. Gov. Kathy Hochul , All to marched in the parade.

The parade is also a time to fundraise and help young students achieve their academic goals through its scholarship program.

Since starting the program in 2015, the National Dominican Day Parade has committed over $1 million in funding to over 200 students across 20 states, according to event officials.

By offering scholarships, parade organizers and board members aim to help students of Dominican descent attain a college degree.

This year, the parade organizers chose seven-time Major League Baseball star Nelson Cruz to be the grand marshal, deeming him someone who represents all of the contributions Dominicans bring to New York City and his work with his nonprofit, the Broomstick23 Foundation, which aims to improve health and education in the Dominican Republic.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch and Rep. Adriano Espaillat discussed preparations and security measures for the parade on Friday afternoon.

“This year, the NYPD is taking every precaution to make sure the event remains safe, respectful and orderly from start to finish,” Tisch said at the news conference. “The NYPD will also be out in full force Sunday night to ensure the celebrations that follow remain peaceful.”

Other dignitaries included; Gov Hochul, Mayor Eric Adams, NYC Comptroller, Brad Landers, NYC Public Advocate, Jumaane Williams, Former Gov, Andrew Cuomo and mayoral candidate, Zohran Mamdani, mayoral candidate, City Council members and many guests in attendance from Dominican Republic.

Understanding the value of education, the Dominican Day Parade takes great pride in providing scholarships and mentor opportunities to exceptional students of Dominican descent.

Through the funds raised from our annual gala, we granted $200,000 in scholarships in 2019 to support awardees through college and post graduate institutions. Helping these promising young people continue to excel in their future ventures allows us to achieve our primary goal: to support and celebrate the Dominican community!
