National Action Networks 35th Annual Convention NYC-2026

The 35th Annual National Action Network (NAN) Convention, held April 8–11, 2026, at the Sheraton New York Times Square, brings together national leaders, activists, and officials to focus on civil rights, economic equity, and voting rights under the theme “Straightening Out Tricks in 2026”.

Rev. Al Sharpton opens the four-day, free-to-register event featuring major speakers, including a conversation with Maryland Governor Wes Moore.

The convention kicked off with a Ribbon Cutting & Opening Remarks on April 8 at 9:00 AM in the Metropolitan East Ballroom.

Kamala Harris: The former Vice President participated in a fireside chat with Rev. Al Sharpton, hinting at a potential 2028 presidential run.

When asked by Rev, Sharpton if she would run in 2028, she went on to say if people want me to then I will.

Wes Moore: The Maryland Governor joined Rev. Sharpton for a one-on-one conversation on Black leadership and economic opportunity.

Hakeem Jeffries: House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries delivered a commanding speech addressing current political tensions.

Featured Panels: Notable sessions included “Love Delivered: A Conversation on Black Maternal Health” (powered by CVS Health) and “Media: Finding Truth in the Age of Misinformation”.

VIP Women’s Luncheon Awards

The 2026 Keepers of the Dream Awards Gala, the premiere event of the National Action Network (NAN) 35th Anniversary Convention, took place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Sheraton New York Times Square.

The ceremony honored leaders in business, labor, culture, and community for their commitment to social justice and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

2026 Key Honorees were: Billy Porter Award-winning actor and singer; recipient of the President’s Award.

Lawrence O’Donnell: Host of MSNBC’s The Last Word; honored for his role as a voice for accountability in media.

Marc Holliday : CEO of SL Green Realty; recipient of the NAN Business Leadership Award.

Alex Lasry : CEO of the FIFA World Cup 26 NYNJ Host Committee; recipient of the Community Impact & Sports Innovation Award.

Louis Carr  : President of BET Networks; recipient of NAN’s Cultural Award.

The evening featured special guest Martin Luther King III, who helped present the awards, and attendance from political leaders including Governor Kathy Hochul.
