Interview with Lou Giordano, Chairman of (GNYADA) and Organizer of the NY Auto Show

Lou Giordano is the owner of the largest Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge dealership in Westchester, Putnam and Rockland Counties. Lou entered the auto business in the late 1970s as the owner of a transmission franchise and auto repair shop and a decade later he became a used automobile wholesale dealer. He became a franchised dealer in 1991 when he opened a Dodge store in Croton. He later acquired a Chevy and Jeep franchise. Last year, he swapped his Chevy brand for Chrysler and consolidated it with Dodge and Jeep at a new facility at 1 Municipal Place in Croton-on-Hudson.

An active GNYADA member, Lou has been on the executive committee since 2004, is chairman of GNYADA’s important Government Relations Committee and has served as a member of the Public Relations, Dealer Services, and Autocap Committees. He has been Vice Chairman since 2004-5. Louis became GNYADA chairman in June 2010.

Perched on a hillside overlooking the Hudson River, Croton Auto Park is the perfect location to display his Jeep models some of which are parked on a rock escarpment at the rear of his facility. Like his dealership’s location, Lou has an impressive view of the industry and the community in which he serves.

2014 Toyota Highlander Greets the World with NYC debut at The NY Auto Show

The new third-generation Highlander will come with the buyer’s choice of three different powertrain options. The base model will be powered by a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with front-wheel-drive. Next up the ladder is a 3.5-liter V6, also mated to the 6AT, which can be had with either front-or all-wheel-drive. Finally, the Highlander Hybrid will be equipped with all-wheel drive, its 3.5-liter V6 mated to an electric motor, all hooked up to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The automaker has not released any specs for fuel economy or output yet, though we’re promised increases in both power and efficiency.

Inside, the most important feature of this model is that it seats eight humans. Beyond that, the automaker is crowing about contrast stitching on the seating surfaces, soft-touch materials on the instrument panel and accents in wood grain, silver satin and chrome. The third row is now easier to access via a sliding second-row point of entry, and is more capacious thanks to 4.3-inches of added width. There’s also a raft of newly safety tech including lane-departure warning, pre-collision warning and blind spot monitoring systems.

World Car Awards at NY International Auto Show ,Twenty Eighteen

The Road to World Car journey concluded today at the New York International Auto Show with the declaration of the VOLVO XC60 as the 2018 WORLD CAR OF THE YEAR.

“I am pleased to see our company’s product investments paying off,” said Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars. “We are up against some tough competition, but this award for the XC60 shows that Volvo has the right combination of design, connectivity and safety that appeals to customers across the world.”

The VOLVO XC60 was chosen from an initial entry list of 34 vehicles from all over the world, then a short list of ten, reduced to three finalists announced in Geneva earlier this month:  the Mazda CX-5, the Range Rover Velar and the Volvo XC60.

“The New York International Auto Show is proud of the tradition it has built with the World Car Awards to recognize the ‘best of the best’ in the auto industry”, said John LaSorsa, chairman of the New York International Auto Show.  “Over the past 12 years this awards program has grown to become one of the most coveted honors for the world’s automakers.”
