FTL MODA Designers SS2016 & Featuring Model Madeline Stuart model with Down Syndrome

FTL MODA has joined forces with the Christopher & Dana Reeve as a nonprofit partner for NYFW Spring/Summer 2016 (SS2016) for its presentation on September 13, 2015 at the historic Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Station. With a shared mission to push boundaries and challenge disability stereotypes on runways and beyond, the upcoming chapter of FTL MODA at NYFW promises to impact the global fashion scene.

In a groundbreaking event last February, FTL MODA’s finale show featured models from around the world living with disabilities, setting a critical precedent about inclusion and the importance of redefining fashion industry standards. By partnering with the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and Global Disability Inclusion, FTL MODA will once again cast a diverse range of models, including models living with disabilities, as part of the lineup for the upcoming SS2016 catwalk.

“We are extremely proud and very excited about this alliance with the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, an esteemed nonprofit recognized for driving innovative research and improving the quality of life for those living with paralysis. We share their steadfast commitment to raising awareness for the paralysis community and together, we will break down barriers to achieve total inclusion for models living with disabilities across the most prestigious runways of the world. By challenging the stereotypes surrounding disability, we will truly create fashion free from confines,” said FTL MODA Producer Ilaria Niccolini. “We are also thrilled to confirm our partnership with Global Disability Inclusion, LLC. After our synergy for the February show in NY and fashion week in Milan, Italy we are pleased to have their participation in the September 2015 show,” concluded Niccolini.

At the core of the fashion industry is a forward-thinking and ever-changing notion of beauty: a concept that should not only apply to the clothes, but to those who wear them.

For this SS 2016 presentation, FTL MODA will also proudly collaborate with renowned advocate, Madeline Stuart, the Australian teen model with Down Syndrome.

FTL MODA continues its tradition of showcasing outstanding and prestigious designers. The selection of designers for FTL MODA SS2016 includes Carmen Steffens (Brazil), Anna’s Loud (Italy), Wild (Germany), Archana Korchhar (India), Alexandra Frida (the Netherlands), and Hendrik Vermeulen (South Africa). The opening show will feature acclaimed South American brand Carmen Steffens, debuting at NYFW with world-class top models and special VIPs in attendance. The shows promise to be innovative and cutting-edge under the dramatic make-up direction of top international MUA Einat Dan and Valeria Orlando.

A two-day showroom activation will follow the FTL MODA runway presentation at the Fitzpatrick Manhattan, on September 16th and 17th, with highly renowned fashion blogger and ASVOFF Film Festival President Diane Pernet as the keynote speaker.

International Beauty Show at New York Javit Center – 2015

The International Beauty Show New York, presented by American Salon magazine, and wholly owned by Questex Media Group, was a resounding success and drew almost 63,000 passionate and energetic beauty pros looking to advance their skills, see the latest and greatest in beauty and to mingle with some of the top talent in the industry. IBS New York, once again, proved that the beauty industry is vibrant and strong.
IBS New York took place at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City and a myriad of the best in hair care, nail care, tools, furniture, apparel and business technology were represented among the almost 500 exhibiting companies showcasing the newest and hottest looks and trends.

Awesome Vibe

“We are thrilled with the turnout, energy and overall vibe experienced at IBS New York this year,” says Liza Wylie, vice president, events for the Questex Media Beauty and Spa group. “Our strong attendance led to record sales for the exhibitors and we were thrilled to welcome back such influential companies like Redken 5th Avenue and Farouk Systems to the show. Resign for our 2015 show was our strongest yet, for IBS and the International Esthetics, Cosmetics & Spa Conference (IECSC). We are proud to produce events in one of the greatest cities in the world.”

The Exhibits

The thousands of beauty professionals in attendance spent hours shopping and learning from the companies on the exhibit floor. “The energy on the floor of IBS is really something special. With so much talent concentrated in New York City, the caliber of names on the Main Stage is quite impressive and the education is unparalleled. We always come away with great exposure for the essie brand. We wouldn’t miss it,” remarked Gerald Densk, General Manager of the essie professional division.

Tom Mazy, Director of Sales for Agadir International had this to say, “Sensational show; it exceeded our expectations! We sold out of our new Agadir Styling Curl Crème and had to restock our line twice.”

The importance of reaching the IBS attendee was best stated by Stacy Kilfoy, Sr. Director of marketing for Brazilian Blowout. “Our appearance at the IBS show gave us the opportunity to educate, as well as, excite both new and certified stylists about Brazilian Blowout and how it changes hair and changes lives.” Kilfoy continued, “As a manufacturer, inperson engagement is invaluable in building relationships with salon professionals and IBS is a great environment to foster this connectivity.”

Lisa Marie Garcia, VP Shows and Education for Farouk Systems remarked, “The attendance was amazing this year. I saw more stylists than ever before asking for education and seeking what is new and trending in the hair world!”

Interview with Chayanne, Puerto Rican Latin pop singer, actor and composer-2014

Elmer Figueroa Arce better known under the stage name Chayanne, is a Puerto Rican Latin pop singer, actor and composer. As a solo artist, Chayanne has released 21 solo albums and sold over 30 million albums worldwide. After Los Chicos separated in 1984, Chayanne began his career as a solo artist. He signed with RCA Ariola and released his first album, Chayanne es mi Nombre, that year. His second album with RCA, Sangre Latina was released in 1986.

After three years with RCA, Chayanne switched labels to Sony Music and broke out with his first self-titled album in 1987. This album featured a blend of ballads and dance tracks, a formula for which Chayanne would be famous. It featured two hit songs, the ballad “Peligro de Amor” written by Michael Sullivan and Paulo Massadas and a song that would cement him as an overall performer, the upbeat dance track “Fiesta en América” written by Honorio Herrero.

Following the album’s release, Chayanne began an international tour to promote Mi Tiempo. Among the places visited early in the tour were Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, and the United States. On August 24, 2008, he began a series of presentations in Spain. When interviewed he noted that the concert would be fluid “like a musical”, and “more Latin” than his previous presentations, being composed of “more pop, Brazilian, Caribbean and reggae rhythms” which he would use to “dance constantly”. He also gave a special performance in Miss Universe 2003 pageant.

In the 1980s, Chayanne participated in several soap operas and starred in the comedy series Generaciones with Luis Antonio Rivera. More recently, he has received several offers for acting jobs, but he has declined most of them for conflicting with his musical career, which he considers his priority.

World Liberty TV, Had the pleasure of interviewing Chayanne, here in New York City, see what he had to say.

NY NOW , (formerly NYIGF®) at NY Javit Center and Pier 94 ( Feb 2014)

Quality was the key measure of success for companies participating in the winter debut of NY NOW™, the Market for Home + Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF®), February 1-6, 2014. Many exhibitors among the market’s total 2,500 reported strong order writing, most notably from new accounts and large retailers, despite two winter storms and the overlap of the 2014 Super Bowl.

“NY NOW had several very strong days of attendance – particularly on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday – and buyers who made it to New York City and to the Market were here to shop,” said Christian Falkenberg, NY NOW director and GLM senior vice president. “Exhibitors reported seeing their key accounts and making new connections with both domestic and international buyers.”

NY NOW attendees represented all 50 states and 74 countries, with Canada, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Columbia, Australia, and the United Kingdom representing the top sources of international visitors. “A lot of international buyers stopped by, and we expanded many connections, not just with the USA, but with the world,” noted first time HANDMADE Designer Maker exhibitor Dominik Kowalik of Dominik Woods. “We are from the west coast and wanted to connect more with the east coast. It’s been really positive.”

Many exhibitors experienced specific days of strong order-writing from quality accounts, which resulted in overall success for the week. “This show has been absolutely fantastic for us,” said HOME Collection exhibitor Kathryn McCoy of Kathryn McCoy Design. “We worked with over 80 stores on Sunday, and Tuesday was non-stop.  This show is tremendous for our business.”

NY NOW LIFESTYLE exhibitor Rachel Clapp of Harry Barker, agreed, “We’ve had a lot of traffic despite the weather. We’ve seen our current customer base as well as new customers and also few international buyers.  It has been a good mix.”

A five-day schedule of educational and social programming supplemented market activities, with more than 40 educational sessions, industry social events, product awards and feature displays. The seminar series, sponsored by industry publications and associations, covered topics such as design and color trends, social media and online marketing, merchandising and retail strategies, and importing. Industry events included the Gift For Life 22nd Anniversary “Party for Life” Fundraiser, the 2014 Housewares Design Awards Gala & Ceremony, and a NY NOW “Night On Broadway,” featuring MOTOWN THE MUSICAL.

Market activities also included recognition of innovative product design through category-specific award programs, including the Baby + Child, Gourmet Housewares, Home Textiles and Personal Care + Wellness Best New Product Awards.  During the Market “People’s Choice” online balloting determined The Savora Colander by Lifetime Brands as Best of HOME, and the Spherovelo By Vici Enterprises as Best of LIFESTYLE.
