13th Annual Taste of Queens at The NY Hall of Science Flushing NYC -2015

The Queens Economic Development Corporation, the Queens Tourism Council, and lead sponsor Delta Air Lines are proud to announce that the borough’s premiere food-and-networking event — Queens Taste 2015 — Which took place at the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on Tuesday, May 12, from 6 pm to 9 pm.

The reasons to attend were that Foodies can expect everything from crunchy to creamy, fiery to flaky, and sweet to savory. For example, La Fusta in Elmhurst will bring beefy Argentine fare, while Jamaica’s O Lavrador will prepare Portuguese paella. Pa-Nash in Rosedale will serve West Indian/Moroccan fusion, while Astoria’s Zenon Taverna will go with Greek specialties. Latin participants include the Arepa Lady (Colombian) from Jackson Heights and Mexican cuisine via La Adelita in Woodside. Asian treats will come from Flushing’s Mulan, Thai Rock in Rockaway, and Kimchee Smoke, which is often at LIC Flea & Food. Meanwhile, the Michelin-starred M. Wells Steakhouse will bring its famous beef tartare meatballs.

Plus, clients of the Entrepreneur Space, a food-and-business incubator that QEDC operates in Long Island City, will be on hand with their artisan specialties, such as gluten-free products and ethnic desserts. 112th North American International Toy Fair at New York Javit Centre-2015

The equivalent of more than seven football fields filled with brand-new toys and games were unveiled in New York City this morning at the 112th North American International Toy Fair – the Western Hemisphere’s largest and most important toy show – Which took place February 14-17, 2015 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Owned and operated by the U.S. Toy Industry Association (TIA), Toy Fair opened its doors to more than 30,000 registered global play professionals who are in town this week to explore a record-breaking 422,000+ net square feet of exhibit space filled with hundreds of thousands of toys, games and youth entertainment products – most of which will be appearing in stores now through the holiday shopping season.

The hulking 7 feet, 315 pound giant American basket ball player has a controversial success story in other areas of entertainment like rap music and movies. Renowned for his witty and humorous comments in media, the professional NBA athlete has a Net worth of $250 million making him one of the wealthiest sportsperson in the world.

The NBA superstar was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1972, and graduated from the Louisiana State University. He is in fact the only NBA player with an MBA degree. Exclusive interview with Mick Foley ,Hall of Fame Wrestler-2014

MickFoley, Sr, is a retired American professional wrestler, author, comedian, color commentator, actor, and voice actor. He has worked for many wrestling promotions, including World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) as well as numerous promotions in Japan. He is often referred to as “The Hardcore Legend”, a nickname he shares with Terry Funk.

Foley has wrestled both under his real name and various personas, including Dude Love, Cactus Jack, and Mankind, also known as the Three Faces of Foley. Foley is a four-time world champion (three WWF Championships, and one TNA World Heavyweight Championship), an 11-time tag team champion (eight WWF Tag Team titles, two ECW World Tag Team titles, and one WCW World Tag Team Championship), a one-time TNA Legends Champion and the inaugural WWF Hardcore Champion.

The new documentary I AM SANTA CLAUS looks at the men who put on the red suit every December and selflessly commit themselves to making anonymous children happy. Directed by Tommy Avallone and produced by Hall of Fame professional wrestler, Mick Foley, I AM SANTA CLAUS is the latest film that’s being release as part of the successful “Morgan Spurlock Presents” film label.

Everyone thinks of Santa Claus as a magical figure without flaws, but the men who keep his legend alive, real-bearded professional Santas, are rarely anything like the jolly old Saint Nick we’ve all grown up knowing. In reality, the mall Santa in your cherished children’s photo has problems just like the rest of us. Even the most jovial of men fall victim to divorce, job loss, insecurity and even the occasional hangover.

Tommy Avallone’s documentary I AM SANTA CLAUS – featuring Hall of Fame pro wrestler (and producer of the film) Mick Foley, who knows a thing or two about make-believe – follows the lives of five professional Santas for an entire year, as they anticipate and prepare for Christmas season and then return to their “real” lives during the off-season. We see who they actually are: flawed, flesh-and-blood men who nevertheless feel a great responsibility to protect the spotless reputation of the “Red Suit.”

 Singer/songwriter/producer, entrepreneur, humanitarian and app co-creator Alicia Keys, along with Jessica Walton, have teamed up with Bento Box Interactive to develop a series of storytelling app experiences for tablet and mobile devices under the The Journals of Mama Mae & Lee Lee franchise. The apps engage children 4+ on an interactive journey through stories, journaling, games and beautiful, original music scored by Keys instilling important values for the target audience

 Mama Mae, voiced by Della Reese, is a grandmother who guides her granddaughter LeeLee through each vibrantly illustrated story.  Through the strength of her personality, Mama Mae and her stories inspire and enlighten children of all ages.  The important and special bond between grandparents and their little loved ones is emphasized in this family oriented app.

111th American International Toy Fair at NY Javit Center- 2014

New York City was transformed into a magical playground this morning when hundreds of thousands of innovative playthings were unveiled at the opening of the 111th American International Toy Fair – the largest toy marketplace ever held in the Western Hemisphere – which took place  on February 16-19, 2014.

More than 30,000 play professionals from 100 countries were  expected at Toy Fair 2014 to explore a record-breaking 412,000 net square feet of exhibit space at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Upwards of 1,150 toy companies – 285 of which are exhibiting for the very first time – are slated to unveil the year’s hottest trends in toys, games and youth entertainment products in front of an estimated 14,000 global buyers.

“New York Toy Fair is the only show in the world that provides the international toy industry with direct access to the tremendous creativity and talent of North American toymakers,” said Carter Keithley, President of the Toy Industry Association (TIA), the trade group that owns and operates the show. “The diverse Toy Fair marketplace offers something for everyone – including niche buyers, mass retailers, licensing executives, and many more – all of who consider the show to be a ‘must-attend’ stop on the global buying circuit.”

Toy Fair opened at 10 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring GRAMMY-winning artist Alicia Keys, co-creator of the interactive children’s app, The Journals of Mama Mae & LeeLee. Kenny “The Jet” Smith is a retired American professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association. He currently works as a TV basketball analyst, primarily for Inside the NBA on TNT.

Smith was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the sixth pick of the 1987 NBA Draft. He played in the NBA from 1987 to 1997 as a member of the Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, and Denver Nuggets. In his professional career, Smith scored 9,397 points and recorded 4,073 assists.

He won two NBA championships with the Rockets in 1994 and 1995. In the first game of the 1995 Finals against the Orlando Magic, Smith made seven three-pointers, including a game-tying shot which sent the game into overtime. The Rockets won the game 120–118.
