Puerto Rico Tourism Update at NY Times Travel Show-2018

Puerto Rico Is Open for Tourism: With 80 daily flights, 285,000 cruise passengers in the past few months, more than 120 hotels open, 4,000+ restaurants serving up cuisine, and major tourism attractions open island-wide, join the Puerto Rico Tourism Company as they share the latest destination updates, progress on the Island’s tourism comeback four months post Hurricane Maria, and invite travelers to re-enchant themselves with the Island.

Three-quarters of residents in Puerto Rico still don’t have power, but San Juan was just named one of the best cities to visit in 2018 by Lonely Planet, the popular guide book publisher. Tourism industry officials hope they’ll come even sooner: They want tourists back before Christmas.

Tourism contributed in total more than $8.1 billion to Puerto Rico’s economy, or 8% of the island’s GDP, in 2016 according to the World Travel and Tourism Council. More than 68,500 jobs are connected to the tourism industry.

But bringing traditional tourists back to the island is not just an issue of rebuilding infrastructure, it’s a matter of marketing.

Taylor Beats Serrano In Fight For The Ages At MSG NYC-2022

Katie Taylor edged out Amanda Serrano to retain her undisputed Lightweight crown in an epic fight for the ages at a sold-out Madison Square Garden in New York, live on DAZN.

Taylor controlled the opening four rounds but Serrano came on strong in the fifth and had her fans on her feet as she seemed to hurt the Irish legend and the roof came off the sold out arena as they traded heavy blows, but Serrano seemed to be getting on top.

If the fifth round was exciting, the sixth blew it out of the water as Taylor threw everything she had at the Brooklyn ace who fired back in kind. Taylor seemed to regain her composure despite the heavy shots she’d taken as rounds seven and eight came and went with the defending champion picking her shots and trying to resist going toe-to-toe with the heavy-handed Puerto Rican.

Both fighters knew the bout was in the balance and served up a stunning final two minutes, and after the crowd roared their appreciation for being lucky enough to witness an unforgettable and history-making night, it was Taylor whose hand was raised by split decision (97-93, 96-93 and 94-96).

It was a very close fight which Katie Taylor won and retained  her Undisputed World Lightweight Boxing Championships on a points victory. Both of the woman fought their hearts out and did not disappoint in any way , it was definitely the fight of the year for man or woman fight this year.
