Irish Heritage Event with City Council Speaker Corey Johnson at City Chambers-2018

Corey Johnson was elected by his peers to serve as Speaker of the New York City Council on January 3, 2018. He was re-elected in 2017 with 94% of the vote to represent Council District 3, which includes the neighborhoods of Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen, Flatiron, West SoHo, Hudson Square, the Meatpacking District, Columbus Circle, Times Square, the Theater District, the Garment District, Columbus Circle and part of the Upper West Side.

The Irish Heritage and Culture event took place at  New York City Chamber Hall , Sponsored by City Council Speaker Corey Johnson, headed by its Chairman Council member Daniel Dromm, the following were honored, Christine C. Quinn, the President & CEO of Women in Need, Inc. and former Speaker of the New York City Council, with the 2018 Thomas J. Manton Irish Person of the Year Award, Mike McSweeney ,City Clerk of the City of New York. Honorable Elizabeth Crowley Chair of 21 in ’21 and Founder of Queens Rail and Anne Marie Anzalone  District Chief of Staff for Congressman Joseph Crowley. Live entertainment was by Niall O’Leary School of Irish Dance and Musical performance by Celtic Cross , close to 300 people were in attendance .

Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewers Women History Month Celebration at 1 Centre St NYC-2018

Gale A. Brewer is the 27th Borough President of Manhattan.Since she took office in 2014, she has successfully passed legislation to reform the deed restriction process, add ‘caregivers’ to the city’s anti-discrimination law, remove criminal history questions from initial employment applications (the “Fair Chance Act”), and enforce requirements for street numbers on buildings in Manhattan (to aid emergency workers).

Municipal Building with me and extraordinary local women authors and performers, including Aparna Nancherla, Abigail Pesta, Pamela Sneed, and Sheila Weller, who will read or perform their work. Tuesday, March 20, 2018, 6 – 8 pm, Municipal Bldg. Mezzanine, 1 Centre St. (North entrance).

Vision Expo East 2018

Vision Expo East 2018, where attendees will get the first look at the new Vision Expo Show experience at the Javits Center in New York, NY (Education: March 15–18; Exhibition: March 16–18).

“With a new creative campaign, website and planning tools, visitors will get a taste of the new Vision Expo before even stepping foot in New York,” said Melissa Ashley, Senior Vice President of Reed Exhibitions. “The changes carry over to an evolving Exhibit Hall, ensuring an engaging and valuable Show throughout all four days.

Vision Expo’s recently launched website makes it easier than ever for visitors to register, connect with others, and access the information and planning tools needed to tailor their time at the Show.

The website also displays Vision Expo’s new creative campaign, All About Eyes, and a taste of what’s to come once they arrive on-site including special events, education, complimentary amenities, contests and awards.

Tony DeBlois Blind with Autism Live Entertainment performance at Strokes of Genius, Inc -2018

When not on tour, Tony enjoy’s singing with St. Mary’s Choir, the 1st Congregational Church’s vocal and handbell choir’s, playing trumpet in Randolph Community Band, attending Knights of Columbus (4th degree)and spending time with his friend hims. Besides piano, Tony enjoys playing the organ, harmonica, guitar, harpsichord, English handbells, violin, banjo, drums, saxophone, clarinet, ukulele, mandolin flute and trumpet. When not playing musical instruments Tony enjoys swimming, exercise equipment, the computer, Mystery Tours and ballroom dancing. For Tony, there are no “roadblocks” but mere obstacles to be cast aside or skirted. His favorite phrase seems to be,” I haven’t learned that yet.”

Strokes of Genius, Inc., World Autism Ability Awareness Artworks by Individuals Brooklyn NY -2018

Curated by Dr. Rosa Martinez, President of Strokes of Genius, Inc., World Autism Ability Awareness: “Don’t ‘dis’ the Ability”: Artworks by Individuals on the Autism Spectrum is an exploration of the mindsets, emotions and skills of these extraordinary artists, in spite of their social, cognitive, behavioral and verbal challenges. The exhibition includes over 100 artworks from 26 international and national artists affected by autism. The mission of the exhibition is to expand understanding of the diversity of people on the autism spectrum, while educating the world about abilities and opportunities to encourage the advancement of every human being beyond their individual challenges. The participating artists share their contributions with the world as an extension of the message, “Don’t ‘dis’ – ability!”
